Prossedi Sausage (Zazzicchia Prossedana) Festival

In December, at the height of the Christmas atmosphere, the village of Prossedi comes alive with the Sagra della Zazzicchia Prossedana, also known as the Prossedi Sausage Festival.

At the foot of the magnificent Baronial Palace of Prossedi, a large brazier is set up where the zazzicchie (sausages) are grilled following the age-old tradition. Our experienced butchers take care of the sausage preparation, seasoning these delicacies with grated orange peels and pitartara (coriander seeds), a spice grown in the fields of our countryside.

The zazicchia (sausage), queen of the festival, is served rigorously accompanied by local broccoletti, but the stands in the square will offer you many other delicacies. You can also taste bruschetta topped with extra virgin olive oil novello from the Prossedi hills, polenta with pork sauce, fried battered vegetables, cakes and chestnuts. All accompanied by a glass of excellent local red wine.

Live music resounds in the village for the occasion, creating a cheerful and engaging atmosphere. Handicraft markets will offer you the opportunity to take home one of a kind souvenirs, expertly handcrafted by skilled local artisans. Plus children will even get to meet Santa Claus.

Come and immerse yourself in the unique culture, tradition and flavours of Prossedi.
